PRP Q&A

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

PRP is a potent, restorative concentrate made of the natural growth factors in your blood. Doctors are increasingly using the regenerative capabilities of PRP in various areas of medicine — including aesthetic medicine.

Chicque Aesthetics offers several PRP therapies. Treatments are available to kickstart the growth of new hair and to enhance your skin’s appearance from the inside out.

How do you get PRP?

Your provider at Chicque Aesthetics begins by drawing a small amount of blood from your arm. Generally, your PRP treatment requires just 2-4 tablespoons of blood. They place the sample in a medical device called a centrifuge. This device spins the blood, separating out platelets.

Your provider injects this super-charged PRP concentrate into your treatment areas. With a facial or PRP face-lift, they make a series of injections in your face or bathe your face in the concentrate after skin resurfacing. For hair regrowth treatment, your practitioner injects the PRP solution into your scalp.

For hair loss treatment, your practitioner injects the PRP solution directly into your scalp. This helps trigger your natural hair growth by increasing the blood supply to the hair follicle. Over time, this increases the thickness of your hair.

What is a PRP facial?

A PRP facial helps promote natural wound healing to counteract the signs of aging and minimize imperfections. The team at Chicque Aesthetics offers PRP therapy in conjunction with Venus Viva™ skin resurfacing to allow the PRP serum to penetrate deeply in the skin.

Combining a PRP facial with Venus Viva helps enhance your results to keep your skin looking its freshest.

What does Venus Viva do in a PRP facial?

Venus Viva is a microneedling therapy that uses tiny pins and nanofractional radiofrequency heat. Together, the pins and heat create microinjuries that stimulate a natural restorative process deep in your skin.

Then, your provider at Chicque Aesthetics spreads PRP over your treatment area. The PRP penetrates into your skin to promote the growth of new, healthy collagen bonds — the foundation of youthful skin.

What is a PRP face-lift?

A PRP face-lift is similar to a PRP facial. However, instead of using Venus Viva skin resurfacing, your practitioner injects the PRP solution into your skin.

The treatment, in conjunction with dermal fillers, kickstarts the production of new collagen, helping to diminish wrinkles, plump up sagging skin, and reduce the appearance of scars and imperfections.

Does PRP treatment require downtime?

You may notice some mild bruising and swelling after your PRP treatment. Most side effects subside in a few days.
