Kybella®: Ditching That Double Chin Has Never Been Easier

Kybella®: Ditching That Double Chin Has Never Been Easier

Baby fat is cute — on a baby. It’s not so cute when it hangs around under your chin. In fact, fatty deposits under your chin can make you look heavy, tired, and older than you really are, throwing off the contours of the rest of your face.

Sadly, there are no exercises that can eliminate chin fat and give you the sleek contours you want. In fact, for years, the only way to slim your chin was with liposuction surgery, using a long tube through an incision to suck out fat.

Thankfully, today there’s another option that doesn’t involve surgery. Kybella® is an injectable formulation designed specifically to dissolve fat in the area under your chin.

Not surprisingly, Kybella is popular. In fact, more than 130,000 treatments were performed last year alone, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

At Chicque Aesthetics, our team offers Kybella treatments to help our patients in Greenwich, Connecticut, eliminate under-chin fat and enhance their facial contours. Here’s how they can help you get rid of your double chin.

How Kybella works

Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a chemical that’s naturally produced by the liver. During digestion, the liver releases the acid, which targets and breaks apart fats in the foods we eat.

Kybella injections work in a similar way, delivering a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid to the fat cells under your chin. The solution immediately goes to work breaking down fat cell walls and “liquefying” them. In the days and weeks that follow, your body carries away the fatty debris, leaving sleeker contours behind.

Of course, one big benefit of Kybella compared to liposuction is that there’s no need for incisions or anesthesia. But there’s another significant benefit; because Kybella is given in specific doses, the treatment affords much greater precision compared to liposuction surgery. That also means it’s entirely customizable — and of course, a lot less costly than surgery, too.

What happens during treatment

Kybella injections are administered right in our office. Afterward, there’s no downtime — you can resume your regular routines. You can expect some mild swelling, but it resolves in a day or two after treatment.

The number of injections you’ll need will vary, depending on the amount of fat under your chin and the results you’re looking for. Most people need between 25-50 injections to treat the entire area. It may sound like a lot of injections, but the needles are extremely thin, and the area can be numbed with a topical anesthetic ahead of time to keep you comfortable.

Best of all, because Kybella destroys fat cells, they’re gone for good. Plus, injections can be repeated to “touch up” the results in the weeks after.

Reduce chin fat and improve your contours

Don’t let chin fat make you look older and heavier than you are. Kybella injections can help you get rid of chin fat, slim your facial contours, and enjoy a sleeker and more youthful profile.
