Help for Your Low Testosterone

Help for Your Low Testosterone

Most people think of testosterone as the male sex hormone — the chemical responsible for male libido and sexual performance. And it’s true; testosterone does play a major role in those areas of a man’s life. But the truth is, testosterone is responsible for a lot more than libido.

Low testosterone (or low T) can cause many symptoms, affecting pretty much every area of your life. The team at Chicque Aesthetics specializes in custom hormone replacement therapy for men, using bioidentical hormones for therapy that’s safer and more predictable.

Testosterone levels start to decline at about age 30. If you think you might have low testosterone — or you’d just like to learn what signs to watch out for — our team has the answers.

Symptoms of low testosterone

Low sex drive and erectile dysfunction are two of the most well-known signs of low testosterone, but they’re far from the only signs to watch out for. Low T can also cause:

Many men mistakenly believe the symptoms they’re experiencing are just a natural part of aging. But there’s nothing natural about having unusually low levels of an important hormone.

The good news: treating low T can help relieve these symptoms, and with bioidentical hormones, your treatment can be customized to your specific needs.

Bioidentical hormone treatment

For years, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been used to treat the symptoms associated with low testosterone.

Initially, HRT used lab-created hormone replacements that were chemically dissimilar to the ones made by your body. That meant it was difficult for the body to eliminate excess hormones the way natural hormones are. Over time, some men developed elevated levels of artificial testosterone, leading to unwanted side effects and health issues.

But more recently, researchers developed bioidentical hormones — therapeutics that have the same molecular structure as the hormones your body produces naturally.

This key difference means your body can use bioidentical hormones in the same ways it uses natural hormones. And, your body is also able to eliminate excess hormones more efficiently for far fewer risks and side effects compared to traditional HRT.

Hormone pellets

At Chicque Aesthetics, we offer testosterone replacement using tiny pellets that are inserted beneath the skin of your buttocks. Over time, the pellets release a steady stream of testosterone, so you can start to feel like your old self again.

Pellets need to be replaced about twice a year, and our team performs the insertion right in our office using a local anesthetic. Most men experience improvements in their symptoms within a few weeks, with maximum effects in about six months.

While low testosterone levels are a common cause of low libido, fatigue, and other symptoms, it’s not the only cause. Before prescribing HRT, our team will run blood tests to check your testosterone level and to rule out other possible issues.
